Managed Retreat in the Age of Climate ChangeKeynote Speaker A.R. Siders a nationally recognized expert whose work is focused on managed retreat as an adaptation strategy. When talking about community response to climate change issues, retreat is the "R" word. But it is already happening in coastal states throughout the country, including here in Connecticut. Is it a good or bad idea? Will we be forced to retreat due to sea level rise in 30 years or 50 years? What does it mean to a community and how do we manage it? This workshop is intended to begin the discussion about managed retreat in the face of climate change. Dr. AR Siders, a national expert in managed retreat, will be the keynote speaker. Examples of retreat in Connecticut will also be highlighted. We would like to hear what you think and what questions you have about managed retreat. LOCATION: Mercy by the Sea, 167 Neck Rd, Madison, CT 06443 TIME: Program runs from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. (8:30 am Registration) COST: $35 per participant |
